What is it?
The Qigong class is based on Eastern teachings of body meridians – these are energy channels in our body through which Qi, or life energy, flows. Specifically, we work with the 12 meridians of the Taoist tradition, each of which is connected to a specific organ and has its own specific functions. In Asia it is known – good health and a balanced mind start with the nature of Qi movement - if Qi flows harmoniously in the meridians, a person is healthy, active and happy; but if Qi movement is obstructed for some reason, it can be felt in one's mind and body as imbalance – e.g. fatigue, weak immunity, pains, a tense mind.
The class takes place at a calm pace and consists of various movement exercises, static stretching postures and massage, to support the harmonious movement of Qi in the body. On a physical level, the exercises help to open the joints and spine, improve blood and lymphatic circulation, and calm the mind. We finish the class with a pleasant relaxation.
